The Wingham & District Hospital Foundation have received a legacy donation of $273,000 from the estate of former Wingham Mayor Ian Moreland and his wife Peggy.
The couple moved from Scotland to Toronto in the 50’s for Ian’s to work on Canada’s famed military jet the Avro Arrow.
When the government abandoned the project the couple moved to Wingham where he was hired at Wescast.
He served as Mayor for Wingham from 1988 to 1994.
Peggy passed away in 2011 and Ian the next year.
