The Alzheimer Society of Huron Perth is taking part in its largest fundraising of the year on May 27th, the Walk for Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer Society of Huron and Perth amalgamated last April and launched the first walk as a group together.
Teresa Weicker, Dementia Educator and Fund Development Assistant with the Alzheimer Society says while proceeds will go towards research, it will also stay local for programs.
“We’re also going to continue to support the programs that we provide for our clients. Those would be educational programs, different resources that we provide, social programming we also provide social support so working with a counselor one on one when you become a client of ours” said Weicker.
Last year the Alzheimer Society raised just over $122,000 and have set the goal this year for $128,000.
The challenge this year is to 3100 steps for the 3100 people living with Alzheimer disease and other dementia’s in Huron and Perth Counties.
