The Minto Chamber of Commerce’s Think Minto First fundraiser has reached over $121,000 in gift card sales.
Think Minto First was launched in 2015 to promote and support local businesses while also raising funds for different groups and organizations.
While the program had a slow start, it gained momentum over the years and since 2017 has raised $22,650 for local not for profits.
Businesses who signed up to participate offered a percentage donation on gift card sales which went back to not for profits.
Not for profit groups as well sell gift cards and in return received a percentage of the sales as a donation.
The Harriston & District Horticultural Society has led the program by selling $93,868 in gift certificates since 2018, following by the Harriston United Church selling $21,647 since 2019.
Think Minto First cards are accepted at 31 local businesses.
