The Wellington County OPP intercepted two seniors in Mount Forest recently who had been contacted by scammers and told to buy gift cards.

Officers were on patrol in the area when two seniors approached and told them they had purchased $1,000 in Apple gift cards to help with a bank internal investigation.

The officers were able to stop the victims from providing the gift cards to scammers and took them straight to the bank as they had provided some banking info to the scammers.

Police say to tell your family, friends and neighbours that banks will never ask them to help with any of their internal investigations and they will never ask to purchase gift cards.
