The Perth County OPP is advising residents to be careful about what they share after another case of a sextortion scam in West Perth.
The case involves a 15-year-old that has been victimized.
In this case, the victim shared intimate photos a year ago with someone she met online.
The suspect recently sent the intimate photos to the victims’ friends over a social media app and demanded money to remove the photos.
Police say there is always a risk in sharing any personal or explicit images over the internet.
They say to think twice before you send or post anything.
If someone starts demanding payment or threatening in regards to anything, never pay the money, block them from all social media, screen shot the messages you send and immediately contact police.
