Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson has recognized the efforts of two grocery stores within the riding for their work towards promoting fruit and vegetable growers in Ontario.
Hansen’s Your Independent Grocery Produce Manager, Kim Conrad and Foodland Southampton Produce Manager Linda Millor were both presented with Foodland Ontario Retailer Awards.
The award celebrates the creativity each store has in building produce displays and emphasizes support local produce.
In a release, Thompson says the displays at each store is innovative and encourages shoppers to continue to support local farmers and market gardens.
The annual program includes four categories of displays which retailers can enter between January and November which promotes locally grown and in season fruits and vegetables.
