More information was made available in regards to a proposed 204 residential unit apartments within Listowel on Mitchell Road South.
The 4.6 acre property is between Kincaid Street and Twamley Street West, adjacent to the Pioneer Gas Station and across the street from Walmart and Zehrs.
The proposal is to have four six-storey apartment buildings which would total 204 units.
Pierre Chauvin of MHBC Planning says this location is poised for development and the need for more living options locally.
“We have to understand that there is a need for people to live. We’re trying to introduce and encourage commercial uses and employment uses. These future employees need somewhere to live and that’s essentially what we’re trying to do is have a place for them to live and work within the same walking distance.” said Chauvin.
Some concerns was raised about the proposal, mainly regarding traffic and parking which some questions were touched on such as introducing certain turn lanes on Twamley to aid but have not been confirmed.
Future meetings are planned including with North Perth council, though a date has not yet been given.
