As the heat wave will continue for the majority of the day with temperatures as a high as 34 degrees and humidex values pushing the high to near 40, Huron-Perth Public Health is advising the public to take measures to avoid heat related illness.

Illnesses include heat stroke, heat exhaustion and fainting with symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, rapid breathing and heartbeat as well as extreme thirst.

Public Health says to drink plenty of cool liquids and decrease your risk of dehydration, plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day, wear loose fitting and light coloured clothing, take a break from the heat and spend a few hours in a cool place.

Cooler temperatures are expected later tonight.
