Perth County OPP are reminding the public to remain vigilant after a Perth East resident was scammed out of $6500 US by investing in cryptocurrency with an online investment company.

At this time, the victim has not been able to retrieve their money from investments.

OPP are reminding residents to be aware of certain warnings signs and not to share personal information with someone you don’t know.

Police add to give yourself time and do your own research.

If someone calls you and identifies themselves as a bank, hang up and call your local branch to confirm the call is legitimate as scammers can spoof phone numbers to appear local but could be fraudulent.

Victims of scams are asked to contact the Anti Fraud Centre.
