For the first time in North Perth’s history, Listowel has raised the Pride Flag.

After a council vote of 7-3 in favour of the decision to fly the flag, the flag raising was scheduled for June 1st but due to bad weather, it was rescheduled for June 3rd.

The flag was raised today at the Municipal Administration Office.

The president of Stratford-Perth Pride, A.J. Adams explained that “it’s amazing to see all these rural communities celebrating pride month for the first time.”

A.J. Adams discussed events to look forward to over the next few weeks in celebration of Pride Month such as this Sunday, June 5th, Perth County’s first ever Pride March will be held in St. Mary’s.

A member of North Perth Pride, Hollie Chavarria also discussed some local pride events taking place. A drag bingo event will take place on Saturday, June 17, and a family pride event on June 18, among many more.
