Mapleton Fire/Rescue will be holding their extrication course in just a few weeks.

The course will revolves all around training the fire department of extraction will be done on June 6th and 7th as firefighters practice with rolled over junk cars.

The training is planned off the road by the Moorefield station.

Fire Chief Rick Richardson says real hands on training such as this is invaluable.

“We have a lot of new recruits over the last few years and we’ve had a lot of car accidents over the last 3-4 years also. But to get the experience hands on and how to do it and not be standing back and just observing, is extremely good for when we have the actual call come in.” said Richardson.

Junk cars are still in need for support for the training.

Anyone who is able to donate a junk car can call Rick at 519-504-3055 or email [email protected] and arrange for a pick up time.
