The Canadian Plowing Organization has declared that the Canadian Plowing Championship held this past weekend in the Regional Municipality of Riverdale, Manitoba a huge success.
The area, just 30 km north of Brandon, avoiding the big snowstorm and torrential rains seen by the area recently that caused flooding in some parts of Manitoba.
The event was hosted by the Manitoba Plowmen’s Association and was originally scheduled for May of 2020 but was delayed two times.
Ontario swept the competition this year. Owen Sound’s Brian Davenport is the Canadian Conventional Champion, while Tom Evans of Tiverton captured the Canadian Reversible Championship. The two will represent Canada at the World Ploughing Contest in 2023 in Estonia.
The Junior Canadian Conventional Champion is Paincourt resident Matthew Sterling. He will now advance to the Senior Conventional Class at the Ontario International Plowing Match.
