On April 18th police received a report of a case where an adult victim was communicating with an unknown person on a social media platform and exchanged intimate images with the suspect.

The suspect then revealed they were not who they said they were and threatened to distribute the intimate images if the victim did not send $2,000. The victim contacted police immediately and no money was lost.

Police would like to remind residents to follow safe internet practices. Do not engage in conversations with strangers, and never share intimate images online.
