Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece spoke in the Ontario Legislature yesterday to highlight some of the priorities discussed at the recent Perth County Federation of Agriculture Federal-Provincial Forum.

In the speech Pettapiece outlined issues facing the industry.

“One common theme was that Ontario’s agriculture sector is facing labour shortages. Finding and retaining agricultural workers in Ontario was difficult even before the pandemic. In the past two years, it has become even harder.”

Pettapiece continued saying that the importance of a secure domestic food production is something that we have been taught.

He finished by thanking the Perth County Federation of Agriculture for organizing the event. He then said working with them for nearly 11 years has been a privilege as well as the Wellington Federation of Agriculture, Christian Farmers and all ag associations in Perth-Wellington.
