The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has issued a Watershed Condition Statement as the recent stretch of warmer weather continues to be followed by showers throughout the weekend.

Temperatures are forecasted Thursday to reach as high as 16 degrees and to stay above freezing throughout the weekend.

This consistency of warmer weather is expected to remove what’ s remaining of the snowpacks throughout the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds.

The runoff rate and stream flows will vary on local snowmelts and rainfall totals in each area.

Residents are reminded to use caution near all watercourses as slippery streambanks and extremely cold and fast flowing water combines to create hazardous conditions.
