Premier Doug Ford was in Brampton today alongside Health Minister Christime Elliott and Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop to announce additional post secondary spaces to train doctors.
The 450 new spaces at the six Ontario medical schools is broken down to 160 undergraduate and 295 post graduate spaces.
Ford says with the investment they are supporting more students to take the path to become a doctor and create familiy doctors and specialists that will take care of us in the years to come.
The expanded positions include spots at a new medical school at Ryerson University which will receive 80 under graduate and 95 post graduate positions when it is up and running.
The move comes as Ontario works at recruiting more workers into the health-care sector, as part of a plan to work on the significant backlog of medical procedures in the province as a result of the pandemic.
