Saugeen Shore Police Arrest One in Motel Fire

Accused held for a bail hearing

A fire which broke out on Sunday at the Maplewood Motel in Port Elgin was deliberately set according to Saugeen Shores Police.

A 39 year old of no fixed address was arrested and faces a slew of charges including arson, mischief and violating a probation order.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators say two people, an employee at the motel and a firefighter suffered injuries in the blaze.

Victim Services Bruce-Grey-Perth and the Red Cross are assisted those who require shelter as several occupants were displaced.
