The Four County Labour Market Planning Board released their December Employment report and it shows that the unemployment rate for the Stratford-Bruce Economic Region increased 0.2% to 3 percent. This at the same time the Provincial unemployment decreased 0.6% to 5.8% both unadjusted for seasonality.
The annual adjusted unemployment rate for 2021 was 4.2%. This is 3.1% lower than was the rate in 2020 when it was 7.3%.
The 2021 annual rate is comparable to pre-pandemic levels of 4.4% in 2019.
Overall net employment in the region decreased by 3,000 with full-time losses (-4,100) and part-time games (+1,000) combined.
The full-time loss was the largest of 2021.
