With the new federal holiday, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, the Ford government has announced September 30th will not be a stat holiday in the province.

Only federally regulated businesses and organizations will be given the day off in Ontario.

Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief, Reg Niganobe says he is disappointed but not surprised by the governments decision.

Niganobe says similar provinces have also made a similar decision which he calls a lack of respect for the day, which marks a very important one for Indigenous people across the country.
