Driver fails to remain after Striking Pedestrian in Howick Township

Pedestrian was walking on the side of the road when struck by vehicle who fled scene

Huron County OPP continue to investigate a fail to remain collision involving a pedestrian that took place this past weekend.

On September 5, 2021 at approximately 9:16pm Huron County OPP and Wellington County EMS responded to the crash scene located at the intersection of Harriston Road and Toll Gate Line east of Gorrie.

Upon arrival first responders attended to a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. The injured pedestrian, a 62 year old from Howick, was transported to hospital and later released with non-life threatening injuries.

The subsequent investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking eastbound on the side of Harriston Road when an eastbound vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

The driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the crask and took off at a high rate.

Investigators believe the involved vehicle is either a 2008 or 2016 model Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

The suspect vehicle may still be missing a passenger side mirror.
