Drayton and Moorefield stations were called to a barn fire on August 28th in Mapleton at around 11:11am on Concession Road 3.
The fire was only contained to the shed and barn building. While no injuries were reported, a few chickens and a calf perished in the blaze.
Mapleton Fire Chief, Rick Richardson says property owners were chopping straw for bedding when something in the straw ignited causing the fire.
Listowel and Palmerston fire stations also were called in to help. A total of eight firefighters from Drayton, 16 in Moorefield, 7 in Listowel and 7 in Palmerston responded.
They remained on the scene until 4pm when the fire was completely out.
