Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he has no plans to recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government of Afghanistan.
Speaking while on the campaign, Trudeau mentioned Canadians 20 years ago did not recognize the terrorist organization as a government when they took over.
“They have taken over a duly elected democratic government by force. They are a recognized terrorist organization under Canadian law.” said Trudeau
This comes hours after the Conservatives released a similar statement. Trudeau says he is working closely with the United States and other allies to help evacuate more Afghans.
