The OPP’s Special Investigation Unit is following up after a stand off in Fergus yesterday morning left 1 man dead and an officer in hospital.
Police were called to Fergus around 11 am Sunday on reports of a domestic disturbance at a home on Belsyde Avenue East. An officer attempted to negotiate with a 31 year old man for 2 hours.
An interaction resulted and at least 1 officer shooting the man who was pronounced deceased at the scene. One officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The SIU is now involved and is handling the investigation.
