The Huron County OPP has a straight forward message to aggressive drivers out there… slow down!
The Highway Traffic Act saw 2 new changes come into effect as of July 1st . They include a doubling of the impoundment time for a driver’s vehicle caught racing and the second is lowering the threshold for the racing charge from 50 over the posted limit to 40
Despite this increase in penalties the Huron County OPP has seen a 75% increase in the number of drivers charged with racing as compared to the same time last year.
This has seen 35 drivers charged already this year as compared to 20 in the same period in 2020.
