An increase of those enjoying being out on the Thames River and Trout Creek in St Marys has prompt the towns volunteer firefighters to get involved in water rescue training.
13 firefighters and Chief Richard Anderson took part in rescue exercises such as getting those out of the river and transporting an injured person to safety.
The fire department took part in training after the initial success of the Yak Shack, a kayak loan program with the public library.
