The Avon Maitland District School Board is reporting a record number of students have signed up for summer school courses this year.
This comes as a shock to many educators as they were expecting summer enrollment to be on a decline after a mostly online learning year.
Around 580 students are enrolled in summer school courses with the school board with another 120 taking courses offered from other school boards in the province. This is a large jump from 385 last year.
Those also taking summer school courses with the school board outside of the district totals 705 students with AMDSB this summer.
