South Bruce OPP and Saugeen Police have confirmed a fatal drowning at Port Elgin beach.
Saugeen Police, Saugeen Shores Fire and Bruce County Paramedic Services responded to a call on July 12th just before 12pm to the Main Beach in Port Elgin of a possible drowning.
Witnesses say a paddle boarder had fallen off their board in deep water beyond the marked swimming area and appeared to be in distress.
Witnesses were able to pull the paddle boarder to shore and CPR measures were preformed. The victim was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police remind residents lifejackets are required safety equipment when using a paddle board as they could save a life.
