A 17 year old male has been airlifted to an out of region hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries after being hit by a passenger train in New Hamburg.
Waterloo police responded to the area of Waterloo and Steinman Street in New Hamburg on Tuesday around 7:45pm. The 17 year old was airlifted to London’s Victoria Hospital with critical injuries.
Witnesses say they attempted to get the 17 year olds attention of an approaching train but he was wearing headphones as he approached the crossing.
Police are asking residents to be vigilant and exercise caution when around railways and railway crossings. Police are still investigating the collision.
