Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is calling on the Catholic Church to “step up” and take responsibility for their role in Canada’s residential school system.
Trudeau says he asked the Pope in 2017 to consider an apology for the school system which ran for over 120 years.
The news of 215 remains of children, some as young as 3 years old found at a Kamloops residential school has sparked outrage and grief.
Many calling on the federal government and the church to investigate more school burial sites.
