The Perth County Agriculture Industry got a boost recently when the Federal & Provincial Government, through their FedDev repayable loan program.
Van Der Burgt Grains, an independent grain trading and elevator operation in Mitchell, is to receive 1 million dollars which will assist the company in acquiring new grain drying capacity with a first-in-Ontario high-efficiency grain dryer and other new equipment.
This will allow the company to scale up capacity to meet customer demand and reduce crop and food waste. It will also allow them to accept crops with higher moisture content than traditional grain dryers.
Van Der Burgt Grains is set to leverage the additional capital from other investments to increase local supply chain purchases by 100 percent by 2023 and add 4 new employees.
