An indoor pool and additional ice pad were the biggest talk among council regarding upgrades at the PMD arena in Drayton.
Mapleton township is looking into upgrades at the arena with the help of the Infrastructure Canada’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Fund to cover most of the upgrade costs.
The program, both funded by the federal and provincial government will fund 80 percent of the cost of qualifying projects up to $10 million.
Many residents who took part in the meeting saying having a pool put in as part of the upgrade can have long term costs which some say there’s just no need for a pool.
Many point to the ongoing upkeep, maintenance and staffing costs associated with a pool.
