Firefighters Retrieve Body of Dog in Elora Gorge

30 firefighters on the scene for 2 hours

Elora and Fergus firefighters both responded to a call on Sunday of a dog falling into the Elora Gorge but unfortunately did not survive.

The call came in around 10am on May 23rd with both stations responding and 30 firefighters were on the scene at the gorge for around 2 hours. OPP also responded to the call and directed traffic around the site.

The dog had fallen around 60 feet down the gorge in the area of Wellington Road 7 bridge and the walking trail.

Firefighters went down to the bottom and retrieved the dog for the family. Officials say this was not due to negligence, but likely from an off leash accident.
