Officers Assaulted by Mount Forest Resident

Accused has June 8th court date

On May 7th around 10pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report on an intoxicated person on Queen Street West in Mount Forest.

OPP located the suspect and while attempting to arrest them, the person resisted and assaulted police and trying to disarm an officer.

A 2nd officer was assaulted when they arrived. Both officers suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The 35 year old of Mount Forest has been charged with 2 counts of assaulting a peace officer, disarming an officer and assault with the intent to resist arrest.

The accused will appear in Guelph court on June 8th
