Impaired driver arrested in Erin Sunday afternoon

Officer had to take evasive action when driver crossed center line

On April 18th at approximately 3:30pm a member of the Wellington County OPP was conducting patrols on Wellington Road 22 in the Town of Erin.

It was reported that the officer had to take evasive action after an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line. Police turned around and stopped the vehicle.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they were under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result a 35 year old female of Erin has been charged with Impaired Operation 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood).

A 90 day administrative drivers license suspension and 7 day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in a Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on May 4th to answer to the charge.
