Ontario’s Emergency Brake Forbids Venues to Live Stream Concerts

Owners arguing they can't livestream but film and tv production can continue

The current guidelines set by the province have venues owners angry and shaking their head upon learning they are not permitted to have livestreams of concerts at their venue.

Some venue owners say they support decision made by the government in order to halt the spread of COVID-19 but also point their finger at the hypocrisy going on. Arguments on why a venue can’t film a livestream concert but under regulations, film and TV production can continue.

Venue owners saying it doesn’t make sense to have film crews all together while a venue cannot film and stream a show in an empty concert hall.

Similar measures were in place at the lockdown in January which had livestreams of shows and concerts pause or be cancelled as it was not allowed under provincial guidelines.
