Hamilton moving to Grey Lockdown of Covid-19 Framework as of Monday

Changes coming for slight easing of restrictions in lockdown zones

The Ministry of Health released a statement this afternoon announcing that the City of Hamilton and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit would be changing colours in the Covid-19 Protection Framework.

Hamilton to Grey-Lockdown and Eastern Ontario to Red-Control.

The Province is loosening restriction in the zone at the same time. Indoor dining will remain prohibited but outdoor dining is now permitted. Also permitted are take out, drive through and delivery.

People can only be seated with members of the same household with limited exceptions for caregivers and people who live alone.

Marinas and boating clubs will now be permitted to operate clubhouses or restaurants, bar and other food or drinking establishment for outdoor dining.

Outdoor fitness, training for team or individual sports or outdoor personal training would also be permitted capped at 10 people.

The Province is also changing capacities for weddings, funerals or religious services at all zone levels. They would now allow the number of individuals that can be safely maintain a 2 meters of physical distance. Social gathers in the same settings would not have the same relaxed restrictions.

Also, as of April 12th personal care services such as barber shops, hair and nail salons and tattoo parlors would be able to operate in lockdown with limited capacity and by appointment only.

As of February the lockdown zone also allowed for in-person retail shopping, with capacity limits.

Grocery stores have a 50% capacity limit in grey as do stores that primarily sell groceries, as well as convenience stores and pharmacies. All other retain is 25%

Casinos are closed in the grey zone.
