The Avon-Maitland District School Board has released a report on YOU MATTER.
The collaboration with the school board with Rural Response for Healthy Children held a virtual symposium where students learned about the Mental Health and Well-Being (MWWB) initiative which was brought to the schools and monitored by school board teams.
The report shares more than 250 students from grades 6-12 and 80 adults from 41 Avon-Maitland District School Board schools attended the virtual event.
Researchers have identified five themes from student data about the challenges students are facing when seeking MWWB support, stigma, fear of embarrassment, accessibility, lack of privacy and technology issues. More events are planned in the future, including a virtual event in June to come together and reflect, share, and celebrate MHWB initiatives.
