The legislation aimed at preventing future loss of firefighters lives like what tragically took the lives of Kenneth Rea and Raymond Walter in 2011 is still waiting to be enacted.

Bill 33 entitled the Rea and Walter Act 2018 was introduced by local Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece and is currently referred to the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills.

The bill would amend the Building Code to require identification of truss and lightweight construction in commercial, industrial or multi-family dwellings of 3 or more units other than townhouses.
