The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit announced today that once the province receives it’s 190,000 doses of the newly approved AstraZeneca vaccine the local health unit will start getting it into residents arms.

The plan is to administer it at local pharmacies to those aged 64 and under.

The Region has developed it’s own online booking system and even after the Province opens up it’s own registration system Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph will continue to use the system it created.

They are also instituting a new phone system after the previous system crashed on the volume of calls.

They reported 15 thousand calls at the same time in a single day from those looking for a vaccination appointment.
