Minto Mental Health Executive Director Jessica Martin reported in a January 19th report to town council that more than $228,000 in cash and in-kind donations have been received in support of the Integrated Youth Services Network hub set to open in Palmerston.
The purpose of the hub is vast with issues such as mental health, substance abuse, primary care, education, training, youth employment, housing another other services.
The primary role of the planned Palmerston site will be one for programming both in-person and over the internet.
There has been a site chosen on Main Street in Palmerston with close proximity from Norwell District Secondary School.
The site is currently being renovated and was set to open by the end of January. This was before the announcement of the Stay-At-Home order across the Province.
The contributions outlined to the end of last year include:
- $100,000 from the Guelph Community Foundation;
- $25,000 from Triton Engineering
- Close to $15,000 through the Centre Wellington Community Foundation;
- $11,948 from Township of Mapleton;
- $10,000 from Harriston Legion Branch 296;
- $10,000 from Blessings to You in Palmerston;
- $8,000 from Trillium Mutual Roots Foundation;
- $5,000 each from Moorefield Excavating, the Minto Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament and Get In Touch For Hutch;
- $1,000 from Rothsay – A Division of Darling Ingredients;
- $500 from Brown Insurance; and
- $255 from the Old Post.
In-kind contributions have been received from such organizations as furniture supplier Frovi, Wightman Telecom, Trusscore, Advanced Electric, Steel Tree Customs and Heritage Builders.
Donations will be used toward capital purchased and operating costs of running the Youth hub.
