The first Covid-19 vaccines expected in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Region have been delayed by several days.

Yesterday officials were notified that the shipment with the first batch of vaccines was delayed from Pfizer.

As a result of the delay the vaccination clinic planned for yesterday and today have been cancelled.

There had been 500 appoints booked with people to get vaccinated.

The new approximately date of arrival is now January 8th but notice will be minimal.

The plan is to start with the staff at long-term care and retirement homes and then move on to other high risk health care providers.

Pfizer issued a clarification that delivery is expected Wednesday and that nothing had changed from the delivery schedule as previously outlined to the Province.
