Youth charged with speeding in front of police station

Huron County OPP have charged a young driver with racing after speeding in front of a police station.

On December 6th just after midnight an officer was patrolling northbound on Albert Street in Clinton when he spotted a minivan ahead speeding right in front of the Huron County OPP Detachment.

A radar device was used to confirm the speed of the van and it was observed to be going 85 in a 50 zone.

The officer continued tracking the speed of the vehicle as it proceeded out of town.

The driver continued to accelerate the vehicle’s speed reaching a high of 174 kilometers in a 90 zone.

A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle stopped north of Clinton.

A 17 year old male driver of Meaford has been charged with stunt driving.

He will now have to attend court on January 5th, 2021 in Goderich.
