The Federal Government made an announcement today on the environment. The focus of the message was on retrofitting homes & community buildings, investing in bio fuels, advancing low carbon processes in industry, continuing the federal rebate on hybrid vehicles and improvements in the agricultural sector. The plan comes with a $15.2 billion dollar price tag. It also raises the price on carbon by $15 per ton in 2023.
The Prime Minister also took the time to offer a sobering update on the status of Covid 19 in Canada. He says that unless substantial changes are seen the numbers of cases of Covid 19 will rise considerably.
“The projections show that if we maintain the current number of people with whom each of us are in contact the numbers will continue to surge. We could reach 12,000 new cases per day in January. We must reduce our in-person contacts right now.”
