The welding trades got a boost in the arm recently with an announcement from the CWB Welding Foundation.

The not-for-profit foundation announced a partnership to help enhance welding education for secondary school students, help lead them to good jobs in the welding trade and develop skilled welders required to fill the future workforce.

The partners in the announcement were Bruce Power, Bluewater and Bruce Grey District School Boards and UA Canada.

This year alone the project will benefit more than 650 students in 7 participating schools including Walkerton District Community School, John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover and Sacret Heart Highshool in Walkerton.

The $270,000 investment will see improvements such as upgrading and modernizing welding instruction facilities at participating schools.
