AG-Prize First Round Winners Announced

Communicating with Customers and Recyclable Maple Syrup Tubing winners announced

 

Huron Counties Economic Development Department introduced a question competition. Dubbed AGPrize 2020, participants were invited to take part by submitting proposals on innovative solutions in the agri-food sector for a chance to win a cash prize. The first round of winners was announced recently in two categories.

Kate Ayers was the winner in the Communicating with Customers category. Kates work on the website Renudefood.com and the proposal to develop content as a way to help the industry to connect with local communities.

The 2nd category was Recyclable Maple Syrup Tubing. Ontario’s maple syrup producers frequently use sap tubing. While it is recyclable it can be difficult to do so efficiently. The category win went to a four person team of Julie Marocha, Gokulan Thedchana, Yohannes Wondimu and Minh Nguyen. Their research on best practices for maple syrup tubing recycling process. The team was able to get a list for recycling companies on the end products that the tubing can be recycled to.
