There areĀ  now 5 active cases of COVID-19 in Huron-Perth, with 4 of the cases from Stratford.

This following the first probable case in a school.

There is a probable case at St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Stratford. Medical officer of health Dr. Miriam Klassen says it is considered a low risk situation for the school community.

She adds the concern right now is with the contact tracing.

While she says 2 of the cases are easily traceable 2 others have no discernable links.

The ability to track the source is crucial to containment.

Klassen also mentioned a concern over the recent number of residents from outside the area coming here to get tested.

She says while there are no rules against it, if enough people decided to escape longer wait periods elsewhere, local centers could be overwhelmed.

Wellington county officials confirmed 1 new case today bringing the total of active cases to 3.

The provincial numbers continue to rise.

712 new cases today in Ontario putting us over 3500 for the week.

Again most of the cases reported in the GTA and Ottawa.

There were also 9 more deaths bringing the Ontario total to 3,031.
