County will ramp up with a new assessment center to open in Harriston next month and another in Fergus. It will be the 2nd one in Wellington County and will be located in the old train station on Arthur Street which is now a seniors centre.
Alison Armstrong, of Groves Memorial Community Hospital mentioned that wait times are getting up to nearly 3 hours at a previous assessment center in Fergus and something had to be done.
Full and part time positions are available at the center for nurse practitioners, registered nurses as well as clerks to handle the registrations. They are hoping to have the centers running next month.
Officials are reminding residents that assessment centres are only for COVID-19 testing and nothing else.
