61 new homes will be coming to Mitchell.
The new subdivision will be located on an empty lot around the streets of Frank, Napier, Nelson and Clayton.
The current expansion will see 37 single detached dwellings, 24 semi detached and a new municipal street.
The report on the subdivision shares the estimated price of the single detached units is $650,000 with the semi’s at $550,000.
Perth County Planner Jerrica Gilbert says unfortunately based on provincial numbers of what’s considered affordable housing, these units will not fall under that category.
“Since the singles are being proposed at $650,000 and the semi’s at $550,000 its unlikely any of the units in this development will be affordable for low or medium range incomes.” said Gilbert.
Gilbert adds what’s considered an affordable house within the region is $483,966.
The property for the new houses is 9.4 acres in size and is currently used for cash crops.
There is no timeline for when work will begin but is being rolled out in two phases.
Phase 1 will cover the 37 single dwellings with phase 2 for the 12 semi detached.
