Wellington County OPP recently shared their numbers for false alarm revenue and its expected to rise for the year.
The total of false alarms jumped 11 per cent to 302 last year, up from 272 in 2021.
The number is expected to rise due to Wellington County approving the increased charge for at fault false alarms to $385 per call.
Previously the fees for $50 for a first offence, $100 for a second and increasing by another $100 after that.
Money collected in false alarms goes back to the county’s police budget and unpaid fees are added to tax bills.
