The Canada Summer Jobs 2024 program is now open for employer application process for funding.
Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says through Canada Summer Jobs, young Canadians have the chance to get skills and experience needed for jobs now and in the future.
Last summer more than 370 young people were employed across Perth-Wellington from the program.
Despite the application period being open earlier this year, Nater says he is still disappointed the Minister responsible for the program hasn’t taken action to move up the date for when employers would be notified of program funding.
“The mid-April notification date is much too late for most students to find out if they
have a summer job, but employers also must budget and therefore need confirmation of
whether or not they will receive funding well in advance of this date,” said M.P. Nater.
“University and college students in particular must have an idea of where they will be
working in the summer by mid-February.” said Nater
Funding is available for not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses under 50 employees to hire qualified youth aged 15-30.
